Settlement for Retaliation
In 2009, Perry Smith obtained a settlement for an employee who was
retaliated against for complaining about violations of wage laws. This
settlement was obtained without formal litigation and without the assistance
of a professional mediator. Perry argued that the documentary evidence
could not be refuted and it was clear that the employee had been terminated
because of the employee's complaints.

Dollar Judgment in Class Action
Perry Smith's office has obtained a judgment of more than five million
dollars on behalf of employees of a chain of cell phone stores. Perry
Smith successfully tried the claims of three employees against the employer
to a jury. After the trial, a class of employees was certified by the
court and the employer decided not to defend the case (in Perry's view this
was because the employer knew it had violated the law and would lose the
case). Perry obtained expert testimony and testimony from many of the
employer's former employees and the class was ultimately awarded a judgment
of more than five million dollars.
